Theater
Born in 2016, Mamut Teatre is a theatre company co-founded by me, Bea Murciano (actress/writer) and Misael Sanroque (writer/director). The company’s first project was a microtheatre adaptation of a Kristen Wiig/Melinda Hill TV sketch that resulted in “Un Cuento de Hadas” (2016).
The name Mamut Teatre came up working on the second project, where Bea tested her talent as a playwright and wrote the first draft of the long play “Lorca en Lorca”. Later on, Lídia Punt (actress) joined the team and we named the company after a mammoth, an animal whose strength and determination defines our spirit.
In March 2017, the company participated in MUTIS VIII Festival de Teatro Independiente de Barcelona with “Lorca en Lorca”, where we were nominated for best independent theater play, best director and best supporting actress. “Lorca en Lorca” has also been presented at the Ravalès-Teatre (May 2017) and is scheduled for the October season at Porta4 theatre. In the meantime, our next project is another text by Bea Murciano, “Ladronas 3.0”, for microtheater.
Mamut Teatre concentrates effort and passion in order to present quality theater. It offers proposals that awaken the public’s empathy while identifying themselves with the characters. For us, theater is the transmission of messages and emotions, it is where the spectator receives constant stimuli that help him/her visualize, understand, reflect and live situations and states of mind that might be difficult to face in real life. We believe that theater is fundamental because it is culture.
